Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Details were released by the Indiana State Police Wednesday about an accident on State Road 59, which occurred Monday.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Monday, members of ISP, Jackson and Posey township volunteer fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare were dispatched to an area near SR 59 and County Road 600 North, close to Slack's Lake.

According to an accident report filed by ISP Trooper William Bradbury, James Butt, 59, Center Point, apparently lost some items out of the back of his pickup truck while traveling southbound and had stopped to retrieve them when his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Ashlee Zaucha, 28, Brazil.

Both individuals experienced injuries from the accident. Butt was transported to Terre Haute Union Hospital for head trauma, while Zaucha was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for injuries and abrasions to her right arm.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged during the collision, with Zaucha's vehicle being considered totaled by officials.
