Northview softball edges past Lakers

JASONVILLE -- The Northview softball team rebounded from a loss to county foe Clay City by defeating Shakamak on Thursday night by a 2-1 score.

The Knights did all of their damage in the fourth inning, scoring a pair of runs and then held off a sixth inning rally by the Lakers for the win.

Northview pitcher Shelby Colson improved to 3-0 this season with the victory, going the distance while allowing five hits and striking out six batters. Colson walked just two batters as Northview improved to 3-1 overall.

Kirstin Kimball doubled at the plate while Emily Phillips, Colson, Kylie McKee and Ashlee Ball all had hits.

The junior varsity also was a winner, claiming a 7-3 decision.

Northview (3-1 overall) takes on Plainfield at home on Monday night beginning at 5 p.m.
