The Northview boys' golf team rolled its way to victory over Rockville and Riverton Parke Thursday, at Forest Park, to maintain its undefeated record.
The Knight's varsity squad posted a team score of 139, easily besting the 167 put up by Rockville and nearly 100 strokes better than the Panthers' 236.
"I'm really pleased with the way we played tonight," Northview coach Steve Buell said about the victory that gives the Knights a 3-0 record to start the season. "Even though we won yesterday (against Terre Haute South), I had been disappointed with some of the scores."
Kade Baker led the way for the Knights by shooting 31, which ties the school record already held by himself, Tyler Akers and Chad Penman.
"Kade had a great day and shot 1-under," Buell said. "You have got to be happy anytime someone on the team can shoot under par."
Following the match, many of the Norhview players asked what the school's team record at Forest Park, which Buell said is 133.
Austin Akers, Dan Eaglin and Ryan Turner each carded a 36 to round out the top four scores for the Knights, while Drew Snyder and Josh Hoskins posted scores of 39 and 40, respectively.
Aaron Bridge carded a 40 for the Rox, followed by a 41 from Adam Powell, while Riverton Parke was led by Corey Manderino's 45 and Adam Hill's 60.
Northview's Junior Varsity was just as impressive in its 163-182 victory over Rockville's second squad.
Jacob Musgrave paced the Knights with a score of 37, followed by a 40 from Jarrod Short and a pair of 43's from Dylan Moore and Mason Short for the top four scores. Byron Felchlia, Larry Knight, Jake Short and Brad Smith added respective scores of 45, 45, 46 and 48 for Northview.
"The JV, especially Musgrave, also played very well during the match," Buell said. "It really shows that this team has a lot of depth."
Barret Jackson and Eric Lear led the Rox with scores of 42 and 45, respectively.
Next up for the Knights is the Spring Preview, Saturday, at The Legends Course in Franklin, which will also play host for the state tournament later this year.
"There will be more than 20 teams at the Spring Preview, and I figure at least half of them will be ranked," Buell said. "It will be very tough but it will be a good day if we finish in the Top 10."
The Spring Preview will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
