Phillips hits for the cycle in Northview softball win

SULLIVAN -- The Northview softball team got plenty of production from senior Shelby Colson and junior Emily Phillips on Tuesday night.

Phillips went 5-for-5 at the plate and hit for the cycle and Colson hurled a shutout in the circle as Northview gained a 9-0 Western Indiana Conference victory.

Colson improved to 4-0 this season and struckout 13 batters while allowing just one hit as Northview bumped its record to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the WIC.

Phillips meanwhile had a pair of singles, doubled, tripled and homered in the game. Alyssa Conrad had a pair of hits and drove in two runs and Kirstin Kimball was 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.

Northview won the JV contest, 7-5.

The Knights travel to Terre Haute South this evening for a 5 p.m. game.
