Thursday, April 23, 2009

BOWLING GREEN -- Emergency officials were dispatched east of Bowling Green Thursday morning for a fatal accident on State Road 46.

The accident took place at approximately 5:53 a.m. just east of Bowling Green on SR 46 and involved a semi-truck and a vehicle.

According to a press release provided by Clay County Sheriff's Department Dep. Josh Krause, CCSD deputies that arrived at the scene were told by Scott Dickey, 50, Indianapolis, who was driving a 2004 Kenworth Tractor with an empty trailer, that he was traveling east on SR 46. Dickey told authorities a 2007 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound and crossed left of center into the eastbound lane, colliding with him.

Dickey suffered minor injuries and was released from the scene without further medical treatment.

Clay County Deputy Coroner Amy Solomon pronounced the driver of the other vehicle, Calvin Knox, 20, Bloomington, dead at the scene. Solomon confirmed to The Brazil Times Thursday evening that Dr. Roland Kohr would perform an autopsy to help determine the cause of death at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

According to reports, Knox was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The accident caused SR 46 to close for nearly three-and-a-half hours and remains under investigation.

Also assisting at the scene were members of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department, Center Point Volunteer Fire Department, Poland Volunteer Fire Department, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare.

You will be missed Calvin...it's just not fair...

I can't wait to meet you little one and tell them what a great man their daddy was....
