Oletta Mae Salitros, 84, Brazil, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital April 24, 2009, at 11:40 p.m., following a short illness.

She was born in Van Buren Township Feb. 26, 1925, to Ralph and Vesta (Girton) McQueen.

Oletta graduated from Van Buren High School as co-valedictorian of the class of 1943.

She married Philip Salitros Nov. 28, 1948.

During her career, she worked for McQueen and McQueen as an abstractor and as a bookkeeper for the Pell companies. She was a lifetime member of the Ebenezer Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Orman McQueen and sisters Maradean Oakes and Joy Lash.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Philip Salitros, son Kent Salitros and wife Peggy, Colstrip, Mont., daughter Jan Choate and husband Jerry, Brazil, grandson Craig Salitros, Evansville, granddaughters Haley Salitros, Vincennes, and Jayme Choate, Brazil, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel and Crematory Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Pastors Bill Price and Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebenezer Church in her memory.
