One lane of traffic was closed on westbound side of United States 40 for Tuesday evening for about an hour as firefighters put out a structure fire in an area near 1283 E US 40. Although details were limited at press time because fire officials were still on the scene, it was confirmed the owners were not home at the time of the fire. To help determine the cause the fire, officials contacted the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Division of Fire and Building Safety. Members of Van Buren and Jackson Township volunteer fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue, TransCare and the Clay County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. Ivy Jackson Photo.
