Sgt. Nicoson will serve as a district squad leader and supervise road troopers assigned to Clay County. He received his promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process.
Sgt. Nicoson is a 15-year veteran of the department. He is a Clay County native, having graduated from Clay City High School and then Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology.
The Terre Haute District has been Nicoson's only district of assignment. During his tenure, he patrolled Vigo and Clay counties, is a current member of the Indiana State Police Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab Team and for the past 11 years, held the position of Terre Haute District Marijuana Eradication Coordinator.
Nicoson has extensive knowledge in the area of marijuana and methamphetamine investigations. His knowledge and skill in these areas has led to many criminal arrests for drug violations and the destruction of thousands of marijuana plants.
Sgt. Nicoson is married and has two children. The family resides in Clay County.
He is the son of now retired First Sgt. Jeffery Nicoson, a former Assistant Commander of the Terre Haute ISP District.
