Fairy E. "Mimi" Johnson, 91, Brazil, former Lapel resident, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Brazil, following a one-year illness.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1917, in Westfield, Ind., to Otto and Emma (Tracy) Kendall.
She graduated from Noblesville High School in 1936, and from Indiana Business College in 1937.
Fairy retired in 1979 from Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, after 13 years of employment.
She was a member of the Phi Beta Psi social sorority of Tipton, and she was active in the West Street Christian Church in Tipton.
She is survived by two children, Pat Hackett, Brazil, and Jeff (wife, Lisa) Johnson, Lapel, five grandchildren, Brent Hackett, San Diego, Calif., Holly (husband, Tad) Froderman, Brazil, Tracy (husband, Chris) Snyder, Lapel, Stacy (husband, Jim) Weeks, Anderson, and Todd (wife, Wendi) Johnson, Lapel, nine great-grandchildren, Corbin and Gracelyn Froderman, Ava Lynn and Olivia Snyder, Cameron and Shelby Weeks, and Kaylee, Logan, and Emma Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Eugene "Jean" L. Johnson, son-in-law Steve Hackett, brother Phil Kendall, sister Irene Williams, and three infant brothers.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
