Northview netters can't overcome Patriots

Northview's tennis team got a visit from state-ranked Terre Haute North on Tuesday night and battled to the end before succumbing by a 5-0 score.

Hannah Pond put up a fight at No. 3 singles for Northview, taking the Patriots' Clair Haley to the brink in a 2-6, 7-5, 5-7 defeat.

Butler University-bound Brittany Farmer claimed a win at No. 1 singles against Allie Melega, 6-1, 6-0 and Sarah Potter was a winner at No. 2 for the Patriots, 6-1, 6-0 against Northview's Ali Rentschler.

In doubles play, Lauren Reberger and Bonnie Froderman dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match to Katie Behnke and Page Cook at No. 1.

Allison Stearley and Kaci Kehrt dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Makenzie Utterback and Mary Kate Etling at No. 2 doubles.

In junior varsity play, the No. 1 doubles team of Briana Cook and Lizzie Emmert gained a victory, 9-8 (8-6).

The Knights face West Vigo on Thursday evening at 5 p.m.
