The Northview softball team got its Big Four slate off to a good start on Tuesday night, scoring a 5-0 win on the road against West Vigo.
Shelby Colson allowed just one hit, a hard liner off her mitt by Sam Richey and her teammates picked her up at the plate, including a home run by senior Kirstin Kimball in the win.
Colson's counterpart, West Vigo's Gina Furrey, struck out 15 Knights, but it was walks that got her into trouble.
Furrey gave up a lead off walk to Ashlee Ball to start the third inning and moved on to second on a wild pitch. Alyssa Conrad then drove in the first run with an opposite field line drive.
A West Vigo error contributed to the Knights' next run as Colson lined a shot past Alicyn Woodward in centerfield to bring home another run for the Knights.
Kimball's blast lead off the sixth inning for the Knights and Emily Phillips came around to score in the seventh inning after drawing a walk.
Conrad had two hits for the Knights and drove in a run while Colson had two RBI. Raven Enders had a hit and scored two runs for the Knights, who improved to 2-0 in the WIC and 5-4 overall.
The Knights hit the road for a trip to Bloomington North this evening at 5 p.m.
At West Vigo
