Bert L. Baysinger Jr., 82, Brazil, died at 12:50 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Exceptional Living Center, Brazil.

Bert was born June 28, 1926, in Clay County, as the son of Bert L. Baysinger Sr., and Daisy V. Moore Baysinger.

He attended Brazil High School.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from January 1945 to November 1946.

He served with the 76th and 172nd Station Hospitals in Japan.

Bert married Jessie E. Sanders Dec. 17, 1950, in the Bee Ridge Church. She preceded him in death in 2005.

In Chicago, he continued his education as a laboratory technician and radiology technician.

In 1954, he was certified by the American College of Radiology as a Radiology Technician and began a career in the Radiology Department at Union Hospital until his retirement in 1989.

He served as a trustee of Bee Ridge Cemetery for many years. He was also a church deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He attended Bee Ridge Church and Carbon Baptist Church.

Bert enjoyed photography as a hobby, travel and many other interests.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jessie in 2005, son Timothy L. Baysinger in 1983, in-laws Gladys and James Sanders, and sister-in-law Dorothy Sanders.

He is survived by daughter Karen E. Cox and husband John, sons Randall L. Baysinger and Douglas L. Baysinger and wife Diana, all of Brazil, grandchildren Sara Cox Schultz (Mark), Brazil, Aaron Cox, Danville, Adam Cox, Terre Haute, Lynnlee Baysinger, New York, N.Y., and Danielle Baysinger, Brazil, great-grandchildren Drew and Ashton Schultz, sister Delores Mathews (Dee), Brazil, brothers Wesley Baysinger, Brazil, Charles Baysinger, Staunton, brothers-in-law Tom, Sanford, William and Kenneth Sanders and Gene Mathews, sisters-in-law Lois Baysinger and Sharon Sanders, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, May 8, at Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, with Pastor Howard Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
