Clay City softball takes down North Daviess

The Clay City Eels improved to 3-1 in the SWIAC Conference by defeating North Daviess on Thursday evening.

Shelby Targett struck out 15 Cougar batters while allowing just two hits and two walks in the victory.

The junior hurler also doubled home a run in the first inning to take an early lead.

The Cougars tied the score in the second inning before the Eels tallied the game-winning run in the fifth inning.

Tasha Collenbaugh scored a run along with Shaya Stevenson, who also had a hit. Abby Reed had a hit and Ali Souder had a base hit and stole a base.

Clay City improves to 12-7 overall and travels to Turkey Run on Saturday at 11 a.m.
