Shot Clinic

The Clay County Humane Society will conduct a shot clinic from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, at the Forest Park Pavilion. Cost for shots is $8.

Looking for classmates

The Brazil High School Class of 1964 is still seeking class members for its upcoming reunion.

No date has been scheduled for a reunion yet.

Class members are looking for Judy Hadley Sieglin, Larry Myers, Ruby Burton Murphy, Virginia Shaffer McMahan, Virginia Courtney Vance, Linn Alexander, Rhonda Grimes Ames, Carolyn Cox Lamber, John Archer, Jim Hartman, Bill Meyer and Ralph Roloff.

Picture notice

Members of the 2002 Northview High School graduating class may stop by The Brazil Times' office during normal business hours to pick up copies of their senior pictures used to create a special graduation section in the paper.

Salute

The Brazil Times is still accepting information for its Salute to Soldiers.

We are currently looking for more veterans to honor for past service.

To honor soldiers, stop by our office Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Please include a photograph and a brief description of service.

Food signups

Share food signups will take place from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, at First Christian Church.

The distribution date is scheduled for 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, also at First Christian Church.

Benefit for center

A scrapbooking event to benefit the R.E.I.N. Center Community Library, 700 Main St., Clay City, will take place from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday.

Registration is limited and there is a $10 fee to attend.

Lunch will be served at the event and local restaurants will provide discount coupons for supper.

Ample cropping space is available and beverages and snacks will also be available.

There will also be a monthly scrapbooking event taking place at the library on the third Saturday of each month unless notification is given. Check The Brazil Times for confirmation of each date.

Covered Bridge event

The Montezuma Covered Bridge Committee will host the third 5K run/walk through two Parke County Bridges Saturday.

Registration will be at 4338 W 40 N on United States 36, Rockville, located four miles east of Montezuma, beginning at 7 a.m.

The Kids Run/Walk will begin at 7:45 a.m., and the adult Run/Walk will start at 8 a.m.

Awards and medals will be given in different age groups along with participation ribbons.

Registration costs $20 for adults in advance or $22 after April 30. Children 10 and under will cost $10 in advance or $12 after April 30.

Learning Scrapbooking

Capture those special birthday moments by learning how to scrapbook at the Brazil Public Library.

The library will host a beginner's scrapbooking class at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 21.

Kim White will instruct the crafting of two basic page layouts using various scrapbooking materials to get those interested in starting.

Cost for the program is $5 and pre-registration and prepayment are required.

Senior picnic

The Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled will conduct its annual Area Day Senior Citizens Picnic Friday, May 22, at Forest Park.

The event will begin at 10 a.m., in the pavilion, and conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Reservations must be made in advance of Friday, May 15.

The picnic is open to those 50-older and cost is $8.

Those interested in attending are asked to send check or money order along with form to Area Day Reservation, 1718 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, Ind., 47807. No ticket costs will be refunded after May 13.

Fish Fry set

Berea Christian Church will conduct a Jonah Fish Fry from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, May 23.

The church is located at the corner of Billville and Waterworks roads, 1995 W. CR 800 N., Brazil.

Cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 10-under. The price also includes a drink.

Advance tickets may be purchased through the church office or available the evening of the fish fry.

WISE Event

Indiana Works will host a WISE Event at the Vigo County Public Library, Conference Room C on the lower level Wednesday, May 27, from 1-4 p.m.

A WISE Event (Work Incentive Seminar Event) can assist persons receiving Social Security disability benefits who are interested in exploring work options.

There is no cost or obligation to participate, but space is limited.

Camper Rally set

A vintage camper rally has been scheduled for June 11-14 at Sullivan Park and Lake in Sullivan.

All vintage campers are encouraged to attend.

The Indiana June rally is registered with Tin Can Tourists and is posted on its website.

Helping Harmony

A benefit to help cover medical costs for 6-month-old Harmony Kaylyn Payne will take place May 17. She is the daughter of Ivy and Joe Payne

The event will take place at the American Legion Post 2, 1013 S. Forest Ave., Brazil.

Starting at noon, a chicken and noodle dinner will take place along with a raffle and other various events to help raise money to support the medical costs necessary for open-heart surgery for Harmony.

Prices for the chicken and noodle dinner will be $6.50 for adults, $3 for children 3-12 and children 2 or younger will be allowed to eat free with a paying adult. The dinner is scheduled for 12-6 p.m.

Donations may also be deposited in an account established in Harmony Payne's name at any Riddell National Bank location.
