She was born in Terre Haute, Sept. 23, 1941, to Jack and Geraldine (Blunk) Lucas. She attended Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Ind. She worked for Columbia Records in Terre Haute. On May 23, 1964, she married Larry Funk. Jackie and Larry moved to Los Alamitos, Calif., in 1969, where she worked at Arrowhead Products as a spot welder for 31 years. She also served as the president of the Steel Workers Union No. 560 for 15 years. Jackie and Larry returned to Brazil in 2005 to be closer to their families. Jackie was an avid NASCAR fan as her favorite driver was Tony Stewart. She will be forever remembered as a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Geraldine Lucas, brother Bill Lucas, and mother and father-in-law Marie and James Funk.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years Larry, sister Patricia Weaver and husband Gary, nieces Sherri Jones and husband Jon, Shannon Hahn, Lorie Hartman and husband Tom, Bradley Lucas and wife Chasity, sister-in-law Glenna Lucas, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation in her memory.
