The Best Years Club welcomes all senior adults to this fellowship. Bring a friend and come to the main auditorium at First Christian Church on U.S. 40 West, Brazil.

We are all looking forward to a beautiful, sunny Sunday and another opportunity to worship together. Did you ever "have a good cry"? From The Courage of Carol, a good cry releases all kinds of pent-up emotions, tears of fatigue physically and emotionally, tears of sorrow, tears of gratitude to God for His miracles, and tears because of the special nearness of the presence of God. Jesus can put His loving arms around you, comfort you and lift you up. Remember Jesus knows what pain is.

God is our reliever; the invisible force upholding us, comforting us, and sustaining us.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

Carbon United Methodist Church

First, I want to apologize to everyone who received a newsletter last week. On the very back of it was an announcement about our Gospel Sing called "Music For The Soul". The date was wrong! It is not going to be on July 25 but today!

It will be from 1-4 p.m. this afternoon at the Carbon Volunteer Fire Department's pavilion. So forget mowing and all those other Saturday chores and come on out and enjoy an afternoon of great gospel music with us. Bring your lawn chairs and plan to relax. The grass will grow without you. There will be two or three different gospel groups performing. The church will be selling BBQ sandwiches, brownies, popcorn, and cold pop so you will have plenty to snack on. The proceeds from the food stand will go to the Clay County Food Pantry.

Vacation Bible School plans are off and running. There was a meeting this past week to get things going. It will be from June 8-12. The theme this year will be "Museum 12627".

The Church of the Nazarene furnished us with the material free, and it sounds like it will be very good! We want to thank them for getting it for us. We will be working jointly with the Carbon Church of the Nazarene again this year. They will take the pre-schoolers over to their church for most of the time while we keep the older kids at the Methodist Church. We open and close at the Methodist Church, but split up through the middle of the evening.

The Town & Country United Methodist Men will hold their monthly breakfast at our Carbon UMC next Saturday morning, May 23, at 8 a.m. We are expecting a large crowd because by the end of the Lenten Breakfasts, there were more than 40 men attending. We hope that many will continue to attend the monthly meetings.

Come to church this Sunday. You will be blessed for having done so. Actually, whether you stop to think about it, you are greatly blessed all the time ... even when you haven't "earned" it. God loves you and blesses you in spite of what you do. You do not earn His blessings, that is impossible. His blessings are freely given to you, that is called God's Grace ... and it is for everyone. So even if you are not blessed more by coming to church, come anyway and thank God for all that he has done for you. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m., and Worship and Thanksgiving is at 10:30 a.m. Come!

Otter Creek Christian Church

What a mighty and awesome God we have, we should praise Him everyday for ALL the things He provides for us. Not only that but we should really thank Him for the things we didn't get that would have gotten in the way of our learning how to depend on God.

Psalm 103 is a beautiful writing that is one of my favorites. Verse 1 "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. [v.2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; [3] Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;"

You may be asking yourself how can we "Bless the LORD" until I looked up the definition of bless it means to please God or to glorify God. And forget means not to remember, so don't forget all the good things that God has given or done for you and give Him the Glory.

Our service times at Otter Creek Church are Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday Worship at 10:40 a.m. We have Tuesday evening bible study at the home of Dennis and Myra Holley at 7 p.m. We also have a Friday morning bible study at 9:30 a.m., at the home of Mary Bowden. If you would like any info about our church or the bible studies just call 446-4007 or 249-3309. You can reach Pastor Steve or sister Sandy at one of these numbers. The church is located at 6299 N. Crow St.,Brazil. The church number is 812-446-5300,

You are sincerely invited to join us in Praising the Lord at Otter Creek Church, the little country church with the big heart for God.

Happy Saturday. Occasionally I refer to some of the older hymns that are in the Church hymnal. Although, the praise songs are good, I actually prefer the songs that have been around forever. One of those songs has been on my mind all week. It is "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." It's just one of the beautiful songs that has so much meaning. Have you ever felt that you've lost your very last friend and that nothing is going right? I'm sure we've all felt that way at one time or another. Well, just think of the song. Jesus will always be our friend. He will never leave us or forsake us. Jesus understands when we are going through all kinds of trials and temptations, because He was abandoned by His disciples and forsaken by His Father while on the cross. He knows your needs and He will take you through it if you will just ask Him. This trial will give you a better understanding of His grace and love He has for you. It will also strengthen your faith so you can help others in their time of need. So, the song says it all. A friend in need is Jesus indeed!

If you are looking for new friends, just drive out to Bee Ridge Congregational Christian Church. Pastor Jeff and the congregation look forward to meeting you. We are the little brick church at the top of the hill on north Kennedy's Crossing Road. We pray that you will come and hear about "What A Friend We Have in Jesus."

God bless you all

What a beautiful Mothers' Day we had. We hope yours was a good one, too. All of the mothers in attendance were given a flower, thanks to June Crabb. Pastor's message was on Esther. The next two messages will also be on Esther. If you missed Sunday, you will not want to miss the remainder of the messages.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have lost loved ones and those who are having difficulties of any kind. We are praying for you.

ANGEL FOOD orders have to be turned in by tomorrow, so if you have not ordered and wish to, please call Lorie at 765-672-6363 or Sharon at 812-448-1030. Pick up day will be May 30 from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

June 8-12, 6:30-8:30 p.m. is Vacation Bible School. Be sure to mark your calendar for these dates. We want to see your children. The theme for it this year is CAMP EDGE. If you would like to help in any way, please call the church and let us know. Did you see our group in the parade? They really had a good time. Some people don't think Christians can have a good time, but this is not true. We would love to show you how.

Thanks to Holly for planting some flowers in the boxes around the church, and thanks to Billy W. for the mowing.

If you are not attending church anywhere else, we want to invite you to come be with us tomorrow. We never know when it may be too late, and we want you to know the Lord the way we do. Our Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 a.m., and our Worship Service is at 10:30 a.m. We do offer a Childrens' Worship for ages 3-7 during the 10:30 service, where they learn about God and Jesus on their level. Puppets are used in this ministry.

Again, we want to extend a welcome to you to come be with us. Until then, may God bless you.
