Northview softball goes 2-1 over the weekend

Northview split a pair of games at the Riverton Parke Invitational on Saturday, falling in softball action to the unbeaten host Panthers, 6-0 and defeating Eminence, 11-1 in six innings.

The Panthers won the tourney after adding an 18-4 win over the Eels to improve to 20-0 this season.

The Knights were two-hit by the Panthers Haley Chambers with Raven Enders and Kirstin Kimball adding the lone two singles.

Against Eminence, Alyssa Conrad, Brailyn Whitson and Lauren Webster each had two hits in a 12-hit attack.

The Knights were in a tight, 2-1 battle with Eminence until breaking it open in the fifth inning with a seven run inning to pull away.

Conrad doubled and drove home three runs in the win and both Whitson and Webster had two RBI.

The Knights (8-8) play Brown County in a WIC battle this evening at 6 p.m.



SPENCER -- Northview's softball team came away from a Friday road trip to Owen Valley with a WIC victory.

The Knights remained unbeaten in the conference by scoring in all but two innings of a 9-1 win against the Patriots.

In the softball game, the Knights got on the board early and opened up a large lead with a five-run second inning.

The Knights' Emily Phillips had a double and a triple in the victory and Alyssa Conrad added a two-base hit in the win. Phillips had a 3-for-5 day at the plate, scored three runs and drove in three runs. Conrad was also hot at the plate with two hits and three RBI. Raven Enders added two hits and drove in a run.

Shelby Colson improved to 7-4 in the circle and the Knights raised their record to 7-7 overall and 4-0 in the WIC.

The baseball team got off to a slow start as Owen Valley scored three runs in the first inning and added a single run in the sixth inning. The Knights tacked on single runs in the third, sixth and seventh, but couldn't add the tying run.

Caleb Mershon allowed four runs while giving up just five hits, but his defense committed three errors behind him. The Patriots meanwhile didn't commit any errors in improving to 3-2 in the WIC.

Zac Niehaus hit a home run for the Knights, who had just six hits.
