Earl Eugene Jones, 80, lifetime resident of Brazil, died at his residence unexpectedly May 15, 2009.
He was born in Brazil, Feb. 6, 1929, to Franklin Eugene and Florence (Kaelber) Jones.
He attended Brazil High School. Following high school, he enrolled in the Army National Guard and later joined the United States Navy, where he served in Japan as well as Korea.
Following his return from the military, he married Dorothy Lovett May 8, 1954.
He worked for Warren Tire for several years before being hired at Monniger Concrete in Terre Haute as a brick layer, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Laborer and Hod Carriers Union in Terre Haute.
In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with the family.
He was preceded in death by his father Franklin Eugene Jones and brothers Franklin L. and Jimmy Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Dorothy Jones, mother Florence Jones, sisters Shirley A. Lindeman and husband James, Terre Haute, Ruth Fields and Patty McWilliams, both of Brazil, brother David L. Jones, Brazil, as well as a large extended family.
At Earl's request, no services will take place. Burial will be at Clearview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
