Man wanted in connection to attempted robbery

Monday, May 18, 2009

Officials with the Brazil City Police Department are searching for a man wanted in connection to an alleged robbery attempt that took place Sunday evening.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., Sunday, BCPD officers responded to the robbery attempt at 120 W. Jackson St., Cooper Tower, Brazil.

Officers spoke to a victim, who said two males entered his apartment, battered him, stole his handgun and threatened to use the handgun to kill him.

Officers later identified the potential suspects, one of which is in custody.

BCPD officers, along with officials from the Clay County Sheriff's Department, discovered Christopher Loughmiller, 23, at a rural Brazil residence. Loughmiller was taken into custody without incident and arrested for his alleged involvement in theft and assisting a criminal.

The second suspect, Sankey Rust, 29, is wanted for robbery, among other felony charges. Officials said he is alleged to be in possession of a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officials are urging residents to contact the Brazil City Police Department regarding the whereabouts of Rust by calling 446-2211.

Sanky Rust has already had an armed robbery that I know of from a hold up of a liquor store in Vigo County. I think he also has other charges, it's time he go away for a trip!!!

You can check this guy out on the Indiana Offenders Database. He's been in trouble several times before. Some people just never learn. Maybe this time they can send him away for being a habitual offender.

You would think with all these previous arrests there would be a picture of him. I saw on the news the police were asking people to keep an eye out for Rust. It might be easier if we knew what he looked like.
