Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Linda Kinser
Linda Kinser recently was awarded a $1500 scholarship to continue her education at St. Mary of the Wood. She is a teaching assistant at Forest Park Elementary, and pursuing her degree in Elementary Education. She was awarded the scholarship at the Alpha Delta Kappa's state convention on April 25.

Linda was one of two recipients for this honor. Not only an honor for her, but an honor for the local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa to have her chosen from a field of eight. The local chapter had five members in attendance to see her receive this award: Carolyn Tausig, Clara Lou Thompson, Hazel Miller, Rolene Moore and Anna Long.

The Xi chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa also was awarded the Seven Pearl award, the highest award given to a chapter at the state convention. The award was given in completion of goals set the previous year.

Another award was given to the chapter for their presentation of their archives, a creative scrapbook, that was on display throughout the day. The scrapbook will be presented to past president, Geraldine Ullery.

Several local members were presented with awards for their years of service: Rolene Moore, 50 years; Ethel Frost and Hazel Miller, 45 years, Kristen Henderson and Anna Long, 35 years, and Veronica Lucas, 25 years.
