Walmart hosting Battle of the Bands

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

It is once again time for the battle of the bands. The second annual event is scheduled to take place in the Walmart parking lot June 13, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., with all proceeds going to support the Brazil City Police K-9 Unit.

"There are so many admirable organizations, but we really tried to pick a worthy recipient," Toy Department Manager and Committee Chairperson Pam Fagg said. "Because of the drug awareness and the fact that it helps everyone in the community and isn't just for a particular age group."

Walmart and Pepsi are sponsoring the event, which is free to the public. Hot dogs, refreshments, and snow cones will be available for purchase.

"This is really an event for the community, it is free entertainment and everyone likes music," she said.

Band sign ups are available at the courtesy desk and will be available up to the day of performance.

For more information contact Fagg at 443-0667, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

This is a great idea! Will Chief Archer & his band be participating in this event? That would be outstanding support of his K-9 Unit (plus treating the public to wonderful music) ~ maybe Officer Hill & Anya can even howl a few bars for us..............LOL:)

My family plans to be there ~ hope Brazil residents come out to enjoy the music & support BPD's K-9 Unit, too:)

karebabe,

P.150 won't be playing this year because of a previous engagement. Thank you so much for thinking of us and we hope everything goes well for the Walmart Battle of the Bands!! Come out and support this effort as a community! God bless!!

RickS ~

So sorry to hear that P.150 won't be participating ~ not surprized that the band has a previous engagement ~ awesome music usually gets booked up quickly :) Hopefully this will become an annual event & the band can participate next year ~

Can we count on Officer Hill & Anya howling to a few upbeat tunes??????? That would add a huge attraction to the event ~ maybe Officer Hill will consider this??????? LOL :)
