CLAY CITY -- The Clay City Eels made sure seniors, Stephanie Granger and Tasha Collenbaugh celebrated Senior Night in style Thursday evening.
Collenbaugh got the start in the circle and threw the first two innings of a 9-0 shutout win that boosted the Eels SWIAC record to 5-2 this season.
Collenbaugh had four strikeouts before giving way to Shelby Targett, who struckout nine Thunderbirds in the win.
At the plate, both seniors contributed mightily to the victory as Collenbaugh went 2-for-4 with a double and scored three times. Granger also had two hits in the game and scored a run for Clay City.
Their teammates got into the act as well as Karen Treadway went 1-for-1, scored a run and drove in one run. Shaya Stevenson added a run and stole a base for the Eels and Targett capped the regular season with a hit and an RBI. Madison Sullivan picked up a hit, scored once, stole a base and had an RBI. Allie Miller and Abby Reed each had a hit and an RBI and Ali Souder scored once for the Eels.
Clay City ends the regular season with a 14-11 mark overall and hosts sectional play on Monday against North Central at 5 p.m.
