The Bowling Green School reunion was held at the Center Point United Methodist Church social room on Friday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. Linda welcomed everyone and Rev. Myron James led table grace.
All said pledge to the flag before eating. Tables were decorated in purple and white with glittering streamers around candles with megaphones. Candles were lite sitting in goblets that were placed on a round mirror. Dorothy Campbell, Jane Green and Robert Skelton brought pictures to share and Robert brought his basketball jacket for all to see.
We had four ladies, all over 90 years of age present and committee gave them a small gift. They were Dorothy Campbell, Hazel James, Lucy Spelbring and Cynthia Moon. It is wonderful the dedicated people took time out to come to the reunion, thats what makes a good one and makes it a success.
Rev. Myron James gave memorial talk for our deceased classmates. There were six.
Linda (Little) Winters brought chocolate cake for everyone to have a piece so we had her tell a little about chocolate and it isn't candy.
If you want to hear more about what chocolate can do for you, give her a call 317-727-8634 or www.askmeabouthealthychocolate.com.
Linda Schiele read some inserts from 1941 school newsletter that, Charlene Hauser had copied from papers her mother (June Clevenger) had kept all these years.
Several door prizes were given out. Those who were present from the Class of 1959 who graduated 50 years ago were: Kathy Byant Burch, Tony Lunsford, Adele Moon Power, Charles Shroer, and Ben Sowers. Dorothy Campbell celebrated her 80th year out of school and still going strong.
A note was read from teacher Mary K. Stearly Brown who taught at Bowling Green. Other teachers were Merl Willen and Pat Wilkinson. Also a note from Janet Powell Collins was read.
Marvin and Cecil Lunsford came in for a visit; it was nice to see them. A delicious meal was served and all had a great time visiting with one another. Hope to see you all again next year and hopefully bring more classmates.
Oh, by the way, I was told that I got in my car and told my sister someone stole my keys, my steering wheel, the break and the gas pedal.
She looked at me and said if you had got out of the back seat and got up in the front, you would find them. (Ask Tony)
Come see us next year and if you give us your address or email, we will send you a notice of when, where, time, place, and price of the reunion. There were 91 classmates present.
