Heading into the 2009 boys' golf season, Northview returned plenty of talent and has lofty goals heading into the postseason.
The Knights finished off the regular season by defeating visiting West Vigo on Senior Night, 141 to 175.
Northview honored seniors, Austin Akers, Kade Baker and Byron Felchlia following the match, a trio that has meant plenty to the Knights' program during their high school career.
"All three seniors have been a big part of this program," agreed coach Scott Buell. "They've worked very hard during their careers and they'll be leaving some big shoes to fill."
Fittingly, the trio helped the Knights match a school record following the win over the Vikings as Northview ended the regular season with a 12-2 dual match record.
Baker shot a 33 to match teammate, Ryan Turner's mark with Akers shooting a 37, Drew Snyder carded a 38 and Felchlia shot a 45 for the Knights in the win.
"All three of these guys have bright futures," added Buell. "I told the guys that the season isn't over yet. We're going to need Kade and Austin to shoot low scores (in the sectional). Hopefully we'll play well."
The sectional, at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Spencer, will take place on June 8 with the Knights scheduled to tee-off at approximately 10:08 a.m.
In the JV match, Northview won 148 to 172 as Mashon Short led the way with a 36 and Jarrod Short had a 37 along with Josh Hoskins. Jacob Musgrave added a 38 followed by a 39 by Daniel Eaglin, a 40 from Dylan Moore and a 42 from both Larry Knight and Brad Smith. Jake Short added a 47.
