EVANSVILLE -- The Graduate and Honors List was recently released for the 2009 spring semester at the University of Southern Indiana.

Six area students were honored.

Brazil residents Jenna Godsey and Wade Thacker each received Bachelor of Science degrees while Center Point resident Jason True also received a Bachelor of Science. In addition, Coal City resident Kevi Baumgartner received a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, as did Reelsville resident Jennifer Schlatter.

Cloverdale resident Elizabeth Wright also received a Bachelor of Science.

ISU announces dean's list

TERRE HAUTE -- Indiana State University recently announced its dean's list for the spring semester of 2009. In order to be on the dean's list for academics, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.

Local students included on the list were Joseph Allen, Eric Alsip, Chelsea Barker, Stacy Biggs, Anna Blevins, Ramey Hayes, Janelle Huber, Stephanie Jonson, Madison Kirchner, Lacy Lane, Calvin Martin, Kellsy Maurer, Michael Medearis, Nicole Mogan, Brogyn Mullinix, Shanda Parr, Ryley Phillips, Bradley Plummer, Jacob Reece, Neil Rentschler, Brady Schoemaker and David Somheil, all of Brazil; Heather Joslyn of Carbon; Clay Huffman and Laura McCrea, both of Center Point; Brockton Dyer, Jessica Hagan, Angela Harden, Emily Hodge, Sean McHenry and Rhonda Williamson, all of Clay City; Michael Hogan, Sue Murphy, Emily Pugh and Joshua Strain, all of Cory; Jillian Kelly and Kristina Kelly, both of Lewis; and Zachery Dusing of Poland.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Judith Sarah Moore of Brazil, graduated from Bowling Green State University in May with a Master of Arts degree.

About 2,250 students, including more than 300 graduate students, received degrees from Bowling Green State University during commencement ceremonies May 8-9.

The graduating class represents 71 of Ohio's 88 counties, 38 states and 25 nations.

The graduate college numbered 285 candidates for master's degrees, 28 candidates for doctoral degrees and one candidate for a specialist degree. On the undergraduate level, 134 bachelor's degree candidates graduated summa cum laude for maintaining a grade-point average between 3.9 and 4.0. Fifty of those students have perfect 4.0 averages and received Presidential Honors.

Van Buren students honored

The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics and Van Buren Elementary School announced three students at the school were recipients of the ICTM Mathematics award.

The students, Lauren McHargue, Nicholas Salinetro and John Pell, received the awards for excellence in math for the 2008-09 school year.

Tracy Lynn Oliveira participated in graduation ceremonies at Ball State University Saturday, May 9.

She majored in Interior Design and has a minor in Rental Property Management. She is completing her degree with an internship in Kokomo.

Tracy is the daughter of Karen and Darrel Barnhart, rural Center Point, and Bob and Brenda Oliveira, Terre Haute.

Tracy graduated from Northview High School in 2005.

Steven and Debra Grigsby would like to proudly announce the graduation of their daughter, Dr. Ashley Renee Grigsby-Swearingen.

Ashley graduated from Butler University Saturday, May 9, 2009, receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, with academic honors.

Ashley is a 2001 graduate of Northview High School and plans to continue to reside in Brazil.

She will be employed by Kroger pharmacy, where she will work in Brazil as a staff pharmacist.
