The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Supplies needed

Terre Haute Savings Bank, 260 E. National Ave., Brazil, is currently collecting supplies for military stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For a list of donations needed, stop by the Brazil branch. The bank will pay the postage for a monthly box to be sent to troops.

Republican Club meeting

Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton will speak for the Clay County Republican Club at 7 p.m., today, at the Clay County Senior Center.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting.

Craft day!

The Brazil Public Library will conduct "Make And Take Craft Day," as part of its Summer Reading Club, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday.

The program is free for children of all ages.

Blood drive set

The Indiana Blood Drive will conduct a blood drive Wednesday, from 2-5 p.m., at the St. Vincent Surgery Center, 227 E. McCallister Dr., Terre Haute.

Crop and Swap

Crop and Swap will take place at the Brazil Public Library Thursday, at 6 p.m.

Trade materials, get new ideas and work on scrapbooks.

Cost is $5 and requires prepayment and pre-registration.

The public is invited to a cookout with the Friends of Turkey Run and Shades State Park.

The event will take place at the amphitheater across from the Nature Center at Turkey Run State Park at 6 p.m., Thursday.

Meet the friends, learn about volunteer opportunities at the parks and see the new amphitheater.

Hot dogs will be provided but those planning to attend are asked to bring a dish to share, a lawn chair and a friend.

Carseat Clinic

Healthy Families of Clay County will conduct its annual Carseat Clinic from 2-6 p.m., Thursday.

The clinic is free to the public and will take place at York Chevrolet.

Cropping at the library

Cropping at the Library, a scrapbooking event to benefit the R.E.I.N. Center Community Library, 700 Main St., Clay City, will take place from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday.

Registration costs $10 and is limited.

Lunch will be served on site. Snacks and beverages will be available throughout the day.

Local restaurants will provide discount coupons for dinner.

Car Show set

The Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department will host its third car, truck and bike show, Saturday, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event will take place at Forest Park Shelter No. 3.

Pre-entry to enter is $10. Those interested in taking part must pay $12 to enter on the day of the show.

Comic book convention

The second annual Terre Haute Comic Book Convention will take place Saturday, at the Days Inn, 555 S. Third St., Terre Haute.

The event will begin at 10 a.m., and conclude at 4 p.m. Admission is free to the public.

Comics from the golden age to the present, along with related collectibles will be available from dealers in three states.

Meeting scheduled

All programs and services of the Alzheimer's Association will be explained in detail at a session open to the community June 23, from noon-1 p.m., at the Vigo County Public Library.

Forum scheduled

All residents of the Wabash Valley are invited to Regional Health Alert, which will take place June 23, at 5:30 p.m., at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute.

Star program

The Allen Memorial Planetarium will present the Summer Seasonal Star program June 26-28.

There is no charge for the program but donations will be accepted.

The June 26 program will be at 6:30 p.m., while the June 27 program will be at 2 and 4 p.m.

The June 28 program will be at 2 p.m.

The 30-minute program will introduce the constellations and other wonders of the sky for the summer season.

The planetarium is located at Terre Haute South High School.

Journey to Oz!

The area theater troupe Stage Hams, will present "The Journey Through Oz," at the Scottish Rite, located at the corner of Ohio and 8th Streets, Terre Haute, Friday, June 26, at 7 p.m., and again Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m.

"The Journey Through Oz," is an original script based on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," by Frank Baum, using both classical music and songs from the Broadway musical "The Wizard of Oz."

Admission is free.
