Mae L. Turner, 94, Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, Knightsville, June 15, 2009.
She was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Lena, to Ernest and Catharine (Stallcop) Underwood.
She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1933.
Mrs. Turner married Melvin E. Turner Jan. 1, 1935. She was a member of the Cross Lane Community Church and the Berea Christian Church and Past President of the Homemakers Extension Club, as well as a leader of the Clay County 4-H Busy Bees Club for many years.
In her free time, she loved spending time with her family, sewing and quilting and was an active and devoted member of the church.
She is preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Underwood.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years Melvin, son Melvin "Tom" Turner and wife Jeannine, Anderson, daughters Ann Reed and husband Don, Nashville, Ind., and Loraine Decker and husband Robert, Brazil, grandchildren Curt, Ronda, Fonda, Sally, Michael, Lori, Melissa and Christina, great-grandmother of 12, as well as several extended family members.
Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 17, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m., with Pastor Dick McShanog officiating. Graveside services will be at Clearview Cemetery, Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berea Christian Church.
