FRANKLIN -- Northview senior golfer, Kade Baker, concluded his prep career at the IHSAA State Golf Finals on Wednesday morning.

The Knight teed off in the opening group at 8 a.m. and strung together a round of 80 to finish in a tie for 31st overall with a cumulative score of 154.

Mishawaka Marian's Adam Sumrall came from five strokes back opening the day to shoot a four-under-par, 68, to take a two-stroke victory over first round leader, Patrick Rodgers of Avon and David Mills of Evansville North.

The Avon Orioles played another consistent round to take the team championship with a total of 587, edging out Evansville North's 589 and defending team champion, Indianapolis Cathedral.

For Baker, the results were nearly reversed from Tuesday's opening round in which he started on the back nine and played through rain on the way to a two-over-par, 74. In round number two, Baker started on the front nine and had much more success on the final nine holes.

The first two holes of his round were tough as he double bogeyed both the first and second holes of the morning. He followed by carding a par over the next three holes, but found bogey on hole No. 6-8. Coming into the clubhouse, Baker was sitting at seven-over, 43, just a day after shooting a 35 on the same nine holes.

The temptation of just cruising over the final nine holes of his high school-career, could have overtaken Baker, but instead he bore down.

Baker opened by shooting a birdie on three of the first four holes and was one-under-par before carding a double bogey on the 18th hole.

All together, the senior bounced back to finish off an 80 in the second round to put the wraps on a memorable high school career.
