Meeting features a special guest

The Clay County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., July 6, in the lower level of the museum.

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's birth, the historical society will present a special program at the meeting.

Mary Todd Lincoln will be at the meeting to meet with society members and guests.

Mary Todd Lincoln will be portrayed by Deborah L. Gentit, Terre Haute, who will conduct an interactive living history presentation. Gentit has been an avid genealogist and historian for more than 30 years. She was first introduced to genealogy when her paternal grandmother allowed her favorite book to be the family's 16th century family bible.

She has a bachelor's degree in English and an MBA. Her background includes performances as a historic recreator. Her favorite role is Mary Todd Lincoln, a role which she has performed for schools and various historical groups.

She recently accepted the position of editor for the Indiana Genealogical Society's newsletter. She is also a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society and the Indiana Genealogical Society.

She has written numerous articles for various publications.
