Jacquelyn Jeanne Mehne, 79, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great friend to so many, passed away June 16, 2009, at Memorial Hermann Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, Houston, Texas. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Brazil, as the daughter of Charles Eugene Barding and Beulah Jean Leith Barding.

She lived in Brazil, and attended Alabama School prior to her family relocating to Rushville, Ill.

Following graduation from Rushville High School with the class of 1948, she worked for the Schuyler County Nurse's Office. She had also been employed at Chaney's Jewelry Store in Brazil.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brazil, where she shared her beautiful voice with the choir. She was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Social Sorority.

She was known for her quick wit and superb cooking and baking ability.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, socializing and shopping. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader.

She moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 1988, where she was active in her condominium association in volunteer activities and was employed in various jobs.

She was married to Dr. Richard G. Mehne Aug. 23, 1953, at the First United Methodist Church, Brazil.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Eugene Barding and Beulah Jean Leith Barding, husband Dr. Richard G. Mehne and son Andrew Brent Mehne.

She is survived by son Chuck Mehne, Miami, Fla., daughter Beth Mehne Sanders and son-in-law Lee, and grandchildren Conrad and Sarah Sanders, Phoenix, Ariz., twin sister Marjorie Ann Fulks and brother-in-law Roger Fulks, Littleton, Ill., nieces Ann Fulks Schramm, LeRoy, Ill., Beth Fulks Henricks, Littleton, Ill., and other extended family members.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted July 6, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, Ind., 46229. A memorial will also take place at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in August.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dr. Richard G. and Jacquelyn J. Mehne Memorial Fund in the Clay County Community Foundation, PO Box 272, Brazil, Ind., 47834.
