Area post offices closing early July 3

Monday, June 22, 2009

The Harmony, Brazil, Staunton and Knightsville Post Offices will close at noon Friday, July 3, 2009, to enable retail employees to spend more time with their families.

The last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes will also be at noon that day.

All collections points that have a regularly scheduled collection time prior to noon Friday, July 3, will be collected as scheduled.

Regular mail delivery for July 3 will be unaffected by the change. PO Box access will only be available until noon in those post offices where retail counters and access to Post Office boxes are co-located and are unaffected by early retail closing.

Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for July 3 hours of operation. To obtain the phone number of a specific Post Office, customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS.

Post Office retail counters will be closed Saturday, July 4, for the holiday and there will be no mail delivery.

Post Office retail counters will resume regularly scheduled hours of operation Monday, July 6.

The carriers will not get off early. It is merely a money saving move for the PO.
