Week of fun planned for Clay City Fair

CLAY CITY -- The 2009 Clay City Fair is set to kick off July 6.

Several events are scheduled to take place throughout the weeklong event.

Barn setup and cleanup and decorating of the Green Building will take place July 6.

On July 7, 4-Hr's are asked to bring in their projects. In addition, a bicycle rodeo will take place in the school parking lot at 4 p.m.

The carnival will officially begin July 7, from 6-10 p.m. As well, a Local 2WD-4WD Truck Pull and Tractor, sponsored by the Clay City Lions Club, will take place at 7:30 p.m.

On July 8, 4-H'rs are asked to bring in livestock.

The Clay City Fair Parade, "70 Years -- Stayin' Alive," will take place at 6:30 p.m., July 8. A Pedal Tractor Pull will also take place at 8 p.m.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Rockstar Karaoke/DJ), from 7-10 p.m.

On July 9, the Hog Show will begin at 9 a.m., while the Poultry Show will start at 3:30 p.m. The Beef, Starter Calf Show and Dairy Steer Show will begin at 6 p.m., and the Rabbit Show will start at 6 p.m.

A Fish Fry will take place in the Orange Building July 9, from 4-8 p.m., and an Antique Tractor Pull is set at the pull strip at 7:30 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by Salt Cured July 9, from 7-10 p.m.

On July 10, the Sheep Show will begin at 9 a.m., while the Dairy Show will start at 1 p.m. The Goat Show is set for 2 p.m., and a Lions Club Chicken Dinner will begin at 5 p.m.

A Hot Farm Open Tractor Pull and Semi Pull will take place at the pull strip at 7:30 p.m., and entertainment by Triggerhead is set for 7-10 p.m.

On July 11, the Mayberry Classic Run is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

A Pet Parade will take place at 10 a.m., and a Fireworks Dinner will be from 4-8:30 p.m., at the Lion's Club Building.

Those interested in donating blood will receive a free ribeye sandwich from 5:30-9:30 p.m., if they do so, and the Clay City Cooking Challenge will take place in the Green Building beginning at 6 p.m. This year's theme is blueberries.

Entertainment will be provided by Steve Jeffris from 7-10 p.m.

The Gold Clover Award and Incentive Awards ceremony will take place in the Gazebo at 7:30 p.m., while an ITPA Truck Pull and Diesel Pickups will be in the pull strip, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

A fireworks display will also take place July 11, beginning at 10:30 p.m.
