St. Vincent Clay Hospital will offer a student athletic workshop Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The two-day athletic training workshop is for students entering grades 9-12 and who are interested in learning more about being a student athletic trainer and/or are interested in possibly pursuing a career in athletic training or therapy field.
The workshop will introduce those attending to the world of sports medicine.
The workshop will be conducted by Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer, Nicole Gonzales, from St. Vincent Clay Hospital, along with guest speakers in the fields of physical therapy, radiology, emergency care and podiatry.
No prior knowledge or experience as a student trainer is needed to attend the workshop.
It will be a "hands-on" event, with lecture and lab combined.
Students should wear comfortable clothes for labs (taping ankles, practicing emergency procedures, learning, stretches, etc.).
In addition, CPR training will be provided.
The workshop will take place at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
For more information, call Gonzales at 812-243-9146 or the St. Vincent Clay Hospital Education Department at 442-2740.
There is no cost to attend the workshop, but the deadline to register is July 16 and space is limited.
Those wishing to attend the workshop may register by visiting clay.stvincent.org to download a registration form.
