The Fourth of July celebration is set to begin Saturday and patrons can plan on a fun-filled week, courtesy of Burton Bros. Amusement and the Brazil Rotary Club. * Rotary preps for 74th Fourth of July celebration

For 73 years, the Brazil Rotary Club has conducted its annual Fourth of July celebration.

On Saturday, the 74th year will officially kick off at 7:30 a.m., with the YMCA of Clay County Firecracker 5K Run/Walk.

The festival will culminate Saturday, July 4, with a fireworks display provided by Aerial Arts in addition to the annual $10,000 grand-prize drawing.

In between those events is a multitude of fun for everyone.

While festivities kick off Saturday, the 10th annual Brazil Open Golf Tournament will take place at the Forest Park Golf Course. The tourney will conclude Sunday.

Two live bands will kick off entertainment Saturday evening, with Triggerhead performing at 6 p.m., and Frequency taking the stage from 8-10:30 p.m.

The Brazil Concert Band, led by conductor Matt Huber, will be the featured entertainment Sunday. The performance is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

On Monday, festival goers will have the opportunity to go to a Fish Fry, with all proceeds benefiting the band programs at Northview and Clay City high schools.

The Fish Fry will take place from 4-7:30 p.m., at the Forest Park Pavilion. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children 12-under.

On Tuesday and Thursday, local dance studios will perform.

Moore's Dance Company will perform at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, while Toni's Tumbling and Dance will perform at 8 p.m. In addition, Cindy's Dance Studio will perform at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, while Tumble Express will hit the stage at 6:45 p.m.

Special Rides for Special People will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, The Van Dell's will make a return appearance at the festival. The band will perform at 7 p.m., and 9 p.m., Wednesday.

Christian Rock Band More Than A Show will perform for the first time at the festival this year, hitting the stage Friday, from 6-8 p.m.

This year, Burton Brothers Amusement Company will provide carnival rides. The carnival opens at 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, in addition to Saturday, July 4.

It opens at 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Children attending the event will be able to take part in Sack Races again this year as well.

Sponsored by Brazil Rotarian John Thomas, the event will take place Saturday, July 4. Children 7-under will compete at 2:30 p.m., while children 9-under will compete at 3 p.m.

Children 11-under will compete at 3:30 p.m., and children 13-under will compete at 4 p.m. Children 15-under will compete at 4:30 p.m.

The Sack Races have been a part of the annual event for more than three decades.

The Community Theatre of Clay County will perform "A Salute to Broadway, Clay County Style," Saturday, July 4, at 8:30 p.m.

In addition, Aerial Arts will provide a fireworks show at 10 p.m., Saturday, July 4, with musical accompaniment by WSDM, the Crock, 92.7-FM.

The grand prize drawing will take place at approximately 11 p.m., Saturday, July 4, at Rotary Headquarters.

All proceeds from the festival will go to help the American Cancer Society (Clay County Relay For Life), Brazil City Parks Board, Brazil City Police Department K-9 Program, Boy Scouts (Crossroads of America Council), Charles B. Hall Memorial Fund, Clay City and Northview High Schools Bible Club, Clay City Jr./Sr. and Northview High School Bands, Wabash Valley Community Foundation school dictionary program, Clay County YMCA (Youth Triathlon and Strong Kids Campaign), Clay Youth Leagues, Habitat for Humanity of Clay County, International Water Project (Honduras), Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary International), United Way of Clay County, Northview High School scholarships (two), Clay City Jr./Sr. High School scholarship (one), and the grand-prize raffle winner.

what about the carival for this year.My family

love coming to the carival and really enjoy the

July 4th fireworks.Could someone email me this years 2011 carnival schdule times and dates for

the week. Are the fireworks still on July 4th 2011
