Tuesday, July 7, 2009

A Brazil man died as the result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle accident in the area of 2013 East National Ave., near the entrance of the Walmart parking lot Monday evening.

According to information provided by the Brazil Police Department, around 5:30 p.m., members of the BPD, Brazil Fire Department, Clay County Sheriff's Department, TransCare Ambulance and various members of Clay County Search and Rescue and other fire departments were dispatched to the scene.

Although further details are being withheld pending the accident reconstruction report to be completed by an officer with the Vigo County Sheriff's Department, local officials confirmed two drivers were transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for treatment.

Madonna McHargue, 74, was treated for minor injuries and released later Monday evening.

William Shields, 79, Brazil, died at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

No injuries were reported in the third vehicle.

Clay County Coroner Joel Reinoehl confirmed to The Brazil Times an autopsy was scheduled to help officials determine the cause of death and may potentially help determine the cause of the accident.

Dr. Roland Kohr performed the procedure at Terre Haute Regional Hospital late Monday, however, preliminary results are not expected to be released until later this week.

Further information is not available at this time due to the on going investigation.

So how long did it take Transcare to get there?

My thoughts and prayers to those involved and family members involved.

What would trancare do without the help of local fire departments. A brazil fireman had to drive the ambulance to the hospital because there was only one person on it.

Wow... I'm sorry but that can't go on any more. What are the commissioners going to say or do about that one?

george1 you shouldnt talk unless you know the facts. I was there at the accident and a fireman drove the ambulance in because the two medics on transcare was in the back with the elderly man because he was in such bad condition.
