TERRE HAUTE -- United Way Worldwide recently presented Eli Lilly and Company with the 2009 United Way Spirit of America Award.
"We are excited to win this award," Lilly/Elanco Clinton Lab General Manager George Rogers said. "Involvement in the community is a key part of our site mission statement."
Eli Lilly and Company is the first Indiana Company to win United Way's highest national award. The company has been a strong supporter locally of the United Way of the Wabash Valley for many years.
"Being part of the communities where we live and work has always been a proud tradition of Lilly/Elanco and its employees. We are honored to receive this award and the recognition of the many efforts by our employees," Lilly/Elanco Clinton Lab Human Resources Director Dean Cooke said.
In the past five years, Eli Lilly has donated more than $795,000 to the United Way of the Wabash Valley.
"Eli Lilly and Company, and all of its employees, does some great things for our community," United Way of the Wabash Valley Executive Director Troy Fears said. "From employees volunteering their time and talents in our Day of Action or serving on various United Way committees, to running a great workplace campaign. We are fortunate to have a company like Lilly in the Wabash Valley."
