"I missed one question (out of 200)," Brazil Nazarene Church member Cassie Hood told The Brazil Times about the event. "It was the last question."
Awarded a gold medal and trophy for her score, Cassie is the daughter of Erin and Joe Hood.
"It was also the only one not in the 200 question study guide or the 200 possible bonus questions for the quiz. It was like the ringer question," Erin said.
"They always put one in there. It was only the second question she has missed this past year."
Children in first- through sixth-grade classes from across the United States (except Hawaii) along with areas of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland in Canada participated in the competition focusing on the Book of Exodus.
Around the world, Erin said quiz materials were translated into French, Portuguese, Spanish and Korean, with competitions also held in East and West Africa, Antigua and Dominica.
Erin has helped Cassie study for Bible quiz events since Madolin and Kelly Sparks reinstated the program at the church in the fall of 2007. During the first year, Cassie got a late start but studied and learned enough about the book of Genesis to make it to the state competition. And she did it again this year.
"Cassie loves to learn and is very competitive," Erin said. "She took right to quizzing and motivates herself to do it. She will be moving up to the Blue Level next year, which is a little tougher, but she's ready for it."
With a shy nod, Cassie agreed.
"You have to study a lot, but I like learning about the Bible," the straight-A East Side Elementary student said. "The memorization helps me learn at school."
When asked what motivated Cassie to spend so much time studying, they looked at each other before laughing.
"Dairy Queen is a great incentive," Erin said as Cassie nodded with a smile on her face. "Especially during those frustrating moments."
Four children from the church qualified to go to the world event -- which only happens every four years during the Nazarene church's national General Assembly -- by passing with an 85 percent or higher test score, including Cassie, Jeff Selby and siblings Mickey and Makayla Sparks.
However, only Cassie was able to attend. The church congregation helped pay for a portion of the cost of the trip through donations. It was a milestone of many firsts for Cassie, who traveled with her sister Alyssa and her mother.
"It was her first flight, first cab ride and first time seeing Orlando," Erin said. "It was also her first time to ride on one of the largest rollercoasters at Disney World."
"I got to ride on the one in Animal Kingdom at Disney World," Cassie said. "It was fun. I also saw Moses wearing a pair of Mickey Mouse ears (during the quiz event). That was really funny."
Although the trip of a lifetime was fun, Cassie has learned some very important "life lessons" through her studies.
"I learned about Moses and the plagues, about how a covenant is a promise," Cassie said. "I learned that God kept his promise to Moses throughout everything. And God still keeps his promises to us today.
