Virgil Marion Webster, 79, Franklin, passed away July 10, 2009, at Franklin United Methodist Community, Franklin, Ind., following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Brazil April 21, 1930, to Virgil Milton and Janet (Siegelin) Webster. Mr. Webster graduated from Brazil High School in 1947, and from Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis) in 1954, with a bachelor's in Chemistry.

Virgil briefly taught school at Morton Memorial School in Knightstown, Ind. He married Phyllis Linkel July 23, 1966.

Virgil worked at Allison's Transmission in Indianapolis for 18 years, retiring from there to farm in Hendricks County, Ind.

He was a long time member of the University Heights United Methodist Church and its Ad-A-Link Sunday School class. He was in Medics Division of the National Guard for nine years.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Phyllis Webster, sister Norma Ogborn and husband John H., Danville, Ind., and brother Ronald Webster and wife Beverly, Brazil, mother-in-law Kathryn Linkel, Franklin, Ind., sister-in-law Margaret Gay and husband Ralph, Richmond, Ind., as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m.

A memorial service will take place at a later date at the University Heights United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
