Habitat for Humanity issues thanks

Sunday, July 19, 2009

To the Editor:

Habitat for Humanity, Clay County, wishes to thank all who have contributed this year. Donations of money are welcome as we will begin building a new home this summer in Clay City. There are Habitat "banks" at several businesses in Brazil and Clay City where you may contribute. You may mention Habitat for Humanity when you pay your check at Pizza Hut in Brazil on each second Friday from 4-8 p.m. If you wish to send a contribution, mail it to Habitat for Humanity, Clay County, Box 81, Brazil, Ind., 47834. Habitat will need volunteer workers beginning in August. If you want to volunteer to work on building the home in Clay City, please call Rogene Morge at 448-1159, or Keith Bowers at 443-7021. You may also contact any Habitat for Humanity board member. Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit organization that helps families afford their own homes. The recipient family must participate in building the home through "sweat equity." The family must also repay an interest free loan over a 20-year period. Historically, Habitat for Humanity, Clay County, builds a home every two years. We would like to be able to build homes more often. With generous support from our community, that will be possible.
