Although the investigation is ongoing, the Clay County Sheriff's Department released some preliminary information at the accident scene. However, because the victims' were transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital, the names of both driver's and a passenger were not immediately released.
According to officials at the scene, the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling west on CR 700 N when the driver of a Chevy Cavalier failed to yield the right of way while traveling south on CR 300 W, causing the T-bone collision.
Deputies John Tilley and Casey Judge are investigating the accident, while Jackson Township and Posey Township volunteer fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare responded to the scene. AirEvac was initially dispatched, but due to weather conditions were unable to respond.
