Though her schedule is very busy, 2009 Clay County 4-H Princess Darci Chambers, 13, is enjoying every minute
"I've been very busy," she said.
She is the daughter of Dave and Lisa Chambers, Brazil, and a student at North Clay Middle School.
She has been involved in 4-H for six years, currently submits projects for the exhibit hall and at one time showed pigs.
Her favorite part about being princess is being more involved by going to all the shows and watching as many of the events as she can.
"I love being here and around all the animals," she said. "I love 4-H."
Though fair week is in full swing, Chambers is still surprised by her crowning, which took place July 11.
"(2008 4-H Princess) Baileigh Burns talked me into it," she said. "I only did it to have fun, I never expected to win."
With all of the work of being princess, Chambers has still had opportunities to unwind and have fun.
"There was a heifer that got loose during the show and she came right up to us," she said. "Then that night I had an egg crushed on my head during battle of the barns and that was gross, but fun."
She is learning new things everyday and enjoying her time with the 2009 Clay County Fair Queen Hannah Van Horn.
"Hannah is an awesome queen," Chambers said.
When asked about the possibility of running for fair queen some day, she smiled.
"Maybe someday, we'll have to see," she said.
