Ruby Maxine Bell, 79, Brazil, died at 3:05 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2009, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Brazil, as the daughter of Ora C. and Helen M. Smith Hoffa.

She graduated from Brazil High School.

She had worked as a nurse's aide at Clay County Hospital, an office nurse for Dr. Robert Webster, and for several years at Columbia Records until her retirement.

She married Clem Bell July 23, 1946, in Greencastle. Clem preceded her in death July 24, 2008.

She attended the First United Methodist Church of Brazil. She was a member of El Shaddai Emmaus Community. Ruby was a 34-year breast cancer survivor.

She loved to go fishing in Canada with her husband Clem and her son Alan. She also enjoyed watching college basketball and baseball. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing softball, crocheting, sewing and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clem.

She is survived by son Alan E. Bell, Brazil, daughter Linda M. Lumsdon and husband Jim, Brazil, grandchildren Michelle S. Kibbe (Tim), April L. Bell, Amy S. Vanatti (Charles) and Scott A. Bell (Stacy), all of Brazil, and great-grandchildren T.J. and Ethan Kibbe, Lindsay, Caleb and Luke Vanatti, and Dylan, Emily and Layla Bell.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tony Alstott officiating.

Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
