Grace Parker, Kelsey Gwinn, Anna Hedley and Jessica Thomas, all graduating seniors, were selected from a group of applicants nationwide to receive scholarships based on combination of high school grade point average and S.A.T. scores. Only the children of Great Dane's corporate, branch, and manufacturing plant employees are eligible for this particular scholarship. One four-year scholarship and three two-year scholarships are awarded annually.
An impartial committee comprised of Great Dane employees chooses the annual scholarship winners. The committee reviews Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores) and the grade point average (GPA) of each applicant. If these factors are identical, the committee examines the applicant's extracurricular activities to assist in making a decision. The applicant who is rated the highest receives the four-year scholarship, and the two-year scholarships are awarded to the students with the next three highest ratings.
Grace Parker, daughter of Terri Parker, Savannah, was awarded the 4-year scholarship. Grace plans to attend Mercer University.
Kelsey Gwinn, daughter of Brad Gwinn, Charlotte, was awarded one of three 2-year scholarships. Kelsey plans to attend Eastern Carolina University.
Anna Hedley, daughter of Chuck Hedley (Composites Engineer Research and Development-Engineering, Brazil) was awarded a 2-year scholarship. Anna plans to attend the University of Dayton.
