Coalmont man arrested

COALMONT -- According to information provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, acting on a tip the homeowner was allegedly "growing marijuana," law enforcement agencies secured and served a search warrant for a residence in Coalmont.

Members of the CCSD and Indiana State Police served the warrant at James "David" Swift's home around 2 a.m., Thursday.

Officers discovered a marijuana grow operation, which included several items used in cultivating marijuana, a large amount of "finished product" marijuana and several items used in the ingestion of marijuana.

Swift, 41, was taken into custody, transported to the Clay County Justice Center and preliminarily charged with two class D felony charges of cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana, and one class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Officials confirmed Swift's charges could be amended and an occupant of the residence could face formal charges after the case is reviewed by the Clay County Prosecutor's Office.
