William Elbert Huffman, 83, Brazil, died 12:25 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Cloverleaf Healthcare, Knightsville.

He was born June 17, 1926, in Putnam County, as the son of Reese and Lulu Aker Huffman. He graduated from Staunton High School with the Class of 1944. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp until his Honorable Discharge. He married Betty Smith Aug. 23, 1952. He worked in the construction business as a carpenter until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Brazil and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty in 2007, and one brother Jack Huffman.

He is survived by two sons Gary Huffman and wife Maria, Brazil, and Doug Huffman and wife Mindy, Center Point, four grandchildren Laura, Clay, Jenae, and Kaley Huffman, and other extended family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Witte officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Betty Huffman Scholarship Fund at the First Christian Church, 1875 W. U.S. Hwy. 40, Brazil, Ind. 47834.
