The Northview girls' golf team finally got the opportunity to compete on its home course Thursday evening and came away with a narrow win in a three-way meet against Cloverdale and Linton.
The Knights played five consecutive tournaments on the road to open the season before teeing off at Forest Park Golf Course and earning a four-shot victory over Cloverdale 186 to 190 with Linton in third with a score of 221.
"We didn't play bad, but we didn't score well," Northview coach Josh Trout admitted. "We lost some strokes with penalty shots and around the greens."
Northview's Mandy Thomlinson and Cloverdale's Kayla Langdon tied for medalist honors in the match.
"That was Macie's career-best," Trout said of Lynch's round of 51. "Hayley Miller also had a great round and I was pleased with how both of them played.
"As a team we're hitting the ball better, but we need to limit our mistakes. It was good to get a win and it's something to build on," Trout added.
Allison Trout had a 55 for the Knights, Shelby French shot a 60, Hillary Thomas added a 61 and Kaylee Mason shot a 65.
Next up for the Knights is a visit to Terre Haute South and a match at Rea Park on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
