Volleyball Tournament benefit set for Wednesday

TERRE HAUTE -- Old National Bank will conduct its third Volleyball Tournament to benefit the United Way of the Wabash Valley. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the Indiana State University Sports Arena.

General admission is $1 or a donation to the United Way.

There are seven teams currently registered, all of which are United Way Pilot Campaign companies, including Clabber Girl, Danisco USA, Hamilton Center, Old National Bank, Sony DADC, Terre Haute Savings Bank and Union Hospital.

Team will play for 10 minutes each in a round-robin style game. Each team will play each other and all games will have rally scoring.

The two teams that win the most games will play each other in a championship game, with the prize being the traveling trophy and LIVE UNITED T-shirts. Unison Engine Components currently holds the trophy.

Jim Bertoli, former United Way Executive Director, will serve as the referee for the games. Before joining United Way, Bertoli was the women's volleyball coach at ISU. The 2009 ISU volleyball team will assist with scoring and coordination of the event.
