James W. Ringo, 76, Terre Haute, formerly of Brazil, died Aug. 18, 2009, at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation, Terre Haute, following a lengthy illness.
Jim was born Feb. 10, 1933, the son of Harvey and Alma Ringo.
Jim graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1951. Following high school, Jim joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Jim owned and operated Ringo Lumber Mill in Brazil, and Ringo Hardwoods as well as Commercial Coating, both in Terre Haute. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 264, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, and Terre Haute Court No. 45 Royal Order of Jesters, Past President of Indiana Hardwood Lumberman's Association, American Legion Post 1127, Veterans of Foreign Wars 972 in Terre Haute and Elks Lodge 762. He was also an avid supporter of the Jackson Township Band.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Donna Ringo, Terre Haute, son Tim Ringo (Sharon), Marietta, Ga., daughter Traci Miller (Brad), Brazil, stepdaughter Tracy Fritz, Terre Haute, stepson Mike Fritz (Jennifer), Fort Wayne and John Fritz (Candy), Clay City, 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City, at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, with Pastor David Deal officiating. Military services will be provided by members of the VFW Post 972. Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, Brazil, Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. Masonic Services will be held Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., with a military walkthrough following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VistaCare Hospice 3401 S. 4th St. Terre Haute, Ind. 47802, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
