She was born Jan. 1, 1922, as the New Year's Baby, in Clay County, to Charles and Edith (Brown) Lautenschlager.
She was the last of 10 children.
She was a 1940 graduate of Staunton High School.
Her husband, Wayne Dierdorf, whom she married Jan. 1, 1941, in Terre Haute, died Dec. 17, 1996. She was retired from the Farm Bureau Co-op.
She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the Clay County Farm Bureau, which she devoted more than 40 years as the county secretary. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and loved caring for her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ernest, Edgar, Charles and Everett Lautenschlager, and sisters Marie Wakefield, Anna Hinote, Nellie Winecke, Helen Love and Maxine Gibson.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and very special friend of her and her husband, Andrew Dunlap.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, from 4-8 p.m.
