Staff Report

The Northview junior varsity tennis team got a full match under its belt against some tough competition in the Terre Haute North Patriots.

The Knights dropped an 8-0 decision to the Patriots, but the Knights coach, Mark Orr credits the loss to a learning experience for his squad.

"Some of the freshmen were playing against seniors," Orr said. "We knew coming in that we couldn't win this match. We wanted to make a good showing. Unlike THN our kids are just learning to play, North has several players who would be playing varsity for most schools."

Cole Watts won the only point for the Knights in his No. 2 singles match against Justin Huxford.

"I saw some things that I liked. All the kids are getting better with each practice," Orr said. "We had several great volleys and some of the kids could match serves with North. This was a great opportunity for the younger kids to build on. We will run into the same thing Tuesday at South."
